Looking for a delicious salad starter? Try the classic and easy to prepare Heinz® Vinaigrette dressing for homemade dressing and condiments.
Balsamic Blue Cheese Dressing 1 min 1 min 1/4 cup Heinz® Balsamic Vinegar 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper dash hot pepper sauce 1/2 cup olive or vegetable oil 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese In small bowl, combine Heinz® Balsamic Vinegar, dried oregano leaves, salt, pepper and dash hot pepper sauce. Slowly whisk in olive or vegetable oil; stir in crumbled blue cheese. Use as a dressing for sliced tomatoes and onion on Bibb or Boston lettuce or mixed green salads. Makes 1 cup.


Berry Vinaigrette 1 min 1 min 2/3 cup Heinz® Apple Cider Vinegar** 1/4 cup sugar** 1 cup extra virgin olive oil 2 cups cut berries (raspberries, strawberries or blackberries) Whisk all ingredients together in a medium bowl. Cover and store in refrigerator. Serve at room temperature. Can be made a day in advance. **If preferred: Replace with Heinz® Distilled White Vinegar Use 1/3 cup of sugar instead of 1/4 cup Makes about 2 cups Prep Time: 5 minutes.


Dieters Delightful Dressing 1 min 1 min 1/4 cup Heinz® Distilled White Vinegar 1 small onion, quartered 1 1/2 cups low-fat cottage cheese dash salt dash pepper Place vinegar and onion in a blender container; blend. Add cottage cheese, salt and pepper: blend at high speed until mixture is smooth. Transfer to bowl. Cover: chill to blend flavors. Serve over sliced tomatoes. Makes about 2 cups


Easy Vinaigrette Salad Dressing 1 min 1 min 1/4 cup Heinz® Salad Vinegar 3/4 cup olive or vegetable oil 1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon sugar for variety, add any of the following: 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh garlic 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese 1/4 cup sliced green onions 2 teaspoons poppy or sesame seeds In small jar or blender container, combine all ingredients; mix well. Refrigerate. Serve over salad greens.


Heinz® Vinaigrette Recipe 1 min 1 min 1 cup Heinz® Distilled White Vinegar 1 cup olive oil 1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper 2 teaspoons fresh dill or 1 teaspoon dried dill* Whisk all ingredients together in a small bowl or combine in jar and shake vigorously. Makes 2 cups. *If used as marinade for beef, chicken or pork, substitute tarragon leaves in place of dill.


Honey Poppy Seed Vinaigrette 1 0 min 0 min 1 1/3 cups Heinz® Apple Cider Vinegar 1/2 cup honey 1 1/3 tablespoons poppy seeds 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon ground black pepper 2 2/3 cups vegetable oil <span>In a 2 quart or larger container, combine all ingredients except oil. Stir with a whisk to blend.</span> <span>Add oil slowly, whisking constantly until well blended.</span> <p>Use as a salad dressing or marinade. Refrigerate any leftover vinaigrette.</p>


Marinated Italian Herb Dressing 1 min 1 min 1/3 cup Heinz® Distilled White Vinegar 2/3 cup vegetable oil 1 clove garlic, split 1 teaspoon dry mustard 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper Combine ingredients in jar. Cover; shake vigorously. Chill to blend flavors. Remove garlic; shake again before serving over tossed green salads. Makes 1 cup


Spicy Mustard Sauce 1 min 1 min 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup ground mustard (1.75 oz.) 1 cup Heinz® Apple Cider Vinegar 3 eggs beaten 1 teaspoon salt Combine sugar and mustard in a saucepan. Mix until ingredients are well blended and no lumps remain. Add remaining ingredients. Cook over medium-low heat for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring constantly with a wire whisk until thickened. Serve warm or chilled on cold cuts, ham, beef, chicken, chicken nuggets, and egg rolls, or as a condiment for sandwiches. Makes 2 cups. Note: For a milder flavor, use 1/4 cup ground mustard.


Tangy Cucumber Dressing 1 min 1 min 2 tablespoons Heinz® Apple Cider Vinegar** 1 cup dairy sour cream 1 teaspoon granulated sugar 3/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup diced peeled cucumber Combine ingredients. Cover; chill to blend flavors.<br />Serve over tomato and lettuce salads, sliced chicken or chilled salmon. Makes 1 1/2 cups.
